30 in 30 - Chopper - #19

I know - I am now quote a few days behind. I am in New Zealand you see. Fly fishing. I am shooting though but will have to try to make up some of the videos on my return to OZ. However - in the meantime I give you a hastily constructed edit of an amazing way to get to a fishing spot. Enjoy.

SUNSET SWALLOWED BY MIST - 30 in 30 #18

I know it may seem like a slight repetition of the earlier clouds video - but I like to think of it as a further exploration of a theme...I did set out to try to capture the sunset around this place which can, at times, be quite stunning. The Mist, another meteorological phenomenon that can also be quote stunning around these parts, had other ideas and literally swallowed up the sunset. Enjoy.

COWS DO HOLLYWOOD 2 - 30 in 30 #17

Hey - so I may or may not have run out of ideas. Or it may or may not be the weekend and I feel like packing down. Or it could be that I kind of think these are kind of funny/peculiar. Or something. Meet Cow Pacino...

BRIDGE - 30 in 30 #16

Over half way... Every so often the local hall plays host to a bridge day. They come from far and wide to partake in a day of cards, the odd glass of wine and of course a curried egg sandwich. It's a great little day. And I felt it was only fitting to capture a slice of it. Enjoy.

RACES - 30 in 30 #15

So - hot on the heels of #14 comes #15 - see I am making up time here people. The Bong Bong races are an institution around these here parts. They used to be a wild, debauched affair until they became too wild and debauched and were shut down for a number of years. Now they are a far more salubrious occasion, only slightly wild and debauched. The thing is - there's nothing like a country picnic race meeting. Really there isn't. It's good fun. And the people watching is second to none. Trust me - what I didn't include for fear of offence and flauting many international laws...goodness me, the things people are allowed to leave the house in these days! Anyway - here is a little snapshot of the day. Enjoy.

COWS DO HOLLYWOOD - 30 in 30 #14

OK - so here's the thing... I know I haven't posted for a few days but there are extenuating circumstances. Firstly, we had the Bong Bong Picnic races on Wednesday. Enough said. And yesterday we had a blackout. It doesn't mean I haven't been shooting each day though and I will try my best to get another two videos out today to catch up if I can. In fact I'm heading off to shoot today's as soon as I hit publish.

Now, I know what you're thinking - cows just eat grass and produce methane. How wrong you are. They are actually quite talented and avid actors. The proof is contained below.

Enjoy.

DEUCE - 30 in 30 #13

Lucky number 13. Speaking of lucky, I'm lucky enough to play Monday night tennis down at the local tennis club with the motliest crew since... Motley Crüe... The crowd consists of those who aren't currently playing on court. I for one feel this is a great injustice to the level of sporting prowess on display. As such - I have decided to give the Monday night tennis crew the crowd they rightly deserve. Enjoy.

PUB - 30 in 30 #12

So here is the 12th (yes 12th!) in the 30 in 30 series... staring down the barrel of half way.

Meet Ed. He runs the local pub. Not just any pub, the best pub in NSW.

Enjoy.

JUMP - 30 in 30 #11

OK - so yes this one is pretty simple. But I quite like it. Could be that I am biased seeing my little one have so much fun on the trampoline. Or it could just be because I am pleased to put 'Jump' by Van Halen in your head now... . But, I hear you say, it isn't even used on the video? What do you mean?...You're already singinig it in your head, possibly just in the background but it's there. Isn't it? It'll stay there too. Trust me. It's been in my head since 1984. Go on - go ahead and Jump. Enjoy.

HARBOUR - 30 in 30 #10

I know that by my own self-imposed rules I was meant to make a video everyday in November. Now I know what you're thinking - I haven't posted for Saturday or Sunday. It doesn't mean I didn't do anything - just didn't post. Here is Saturday's. However, I probably wish I didn't do this one. Definitely filed under Alan Smithee...

IMOW - 30 in 30 #9

OK - so here's the thing... I spent all day in the sun helping construct an enclosure for the kids' veggie garden up at the school. After a day of 'proper' work I am stuffed. But as Beth pointed out, rather pointedly, the nature strip out the front was looking a little shabby. So I mowed it. And filmed it. Then found some commentary to an American lawn mower race. As you do. I know... I am worried about me also. BTW - this can go in the 'some will no doubt be terrible' category. Enjoy?

CLOUDS - 30 in 30 #8

Only #8? Really? No worries, only 22 to go. Easy... I had intended on doing a nice quiet profile piece today but that was put back until Monday. So instead, I continue my rather ponderous pieces on the everyday. Today - I give you... clouds. Enjoy.

BREW - 30 in 30 #7

OK - ever thought what it would be like to be inside a water balloon? Especially when it popped? In slow mo? I kind of did, so I spent a bit of this arvo trying to figure out how to get my GoPro inside a balloon and fill it up with water. The upside is I managed to figure out a rather efficient method for getting a GoPro inside a balloon, filling it up with water and throwing it in the air. The only problem was - the footage was ... well... what you'd expect when you put a camera inside a water balloon and throw it in the air. SO - I had to change tack. I was in a slow mo frame of mind and needed a coffee to help me figure out what to do for today's 30 in 30. Then it hit me - make a slow mo film about making a coffee - two birds, one stone. Booyah! Enjoy.

Australian Politics in under 20 seconds - 30 in 30 #6

Melbourne cup day - the race that stops a nation! Part of the reason I've put this together is to free up my day to go and watch the big race. Plus, in the words of Olivia Newton-John "Let's get political, political. I wanna get politicaaaal. Let's get political." Or something like that.

Enjoy.

Animal Farm - 30 in 30 #5

So here is number 5 in the 30 in 30 series... I warned you early on that some of these would border on the bizarre... Remember kids - all animals were created equal, it's just that some animals are more equal than others. Enjoy.

SAIl - 30 in 30 #4

Around here you would expect a few things. Farms. Horses. Definitely cows. But sailing? Of course there's sailing! The Fitzroy Reservoir is home to the Southern Highlands Sailing Club where a mix of youth and experience take to the water in a variety of different boat classes. Seriously - if I owned a pair of boat shoes...

Enjoy.

BLOW - 30 in 30 #3

I set out to make a follow-up to my black and white surfing video 'Werri'. Only problem was, there was no one surfing. There was surf - just no one out. Rather than wait for the tide to become more ideal and hopefully lure out the locals I rapidly devised plan B. Some of you may have visited this place. For me it was very much a part of my childhood. Our trips to visit my Grandparents in Mollymook were always bookended with a stop off here for a quick look and a milkshake. Mine was always strawberry or caramel. My old man always had double chocolate, double malt. I think Mum had vanilla and my brother probably tried to double choc double malt it or go the caramel malt route... ahhh -the 80's. Enjoy.

30 in 30 #2 - 30 seconds in the life of a Guinea Pig

Like I mentioned, some of the videos in this series, 30 in 30, will be bizarre and possibly terrible. I present exhibit a...

Ever wondered what a Guinea Pig gets up to when alone in their hutch? No? Me neither... however I recorded our little Rosie for a few hours in the hope of capturing a rendezvous with her 'free' buddy - the rabbit that lives under the hedge. Unfortunately I didn't. Then the battery ran out. Enjoy.

30 in 30 - The Garage

I do a lot of thinking in the car. I have solved the world's problems many times over. I also thought it would be a good idea to make 30 videos in 30 days. One day in and I'm already thinking that maybe I should have left that idea in the car alongside ideas such as sports beer. However, I will persevere and hopefully complete a video everyday in November along with some words and a few photos to go with them. Some will be simple, others mundane. There will be profiles, slices of life and the downright bizarre. I am sure also that some will be dead-set terrible.

Here is the first in the 30 in 30 series. It is inspired by my garage. Actually, more literally than that - it is a film ABOUT my garage. Funnily enough, it is called 'The Garage'. Enjoy.
